A leading Boston-based investment management firm is seeking a highly motivated
PVAR Analyst
to join its
Portfolio Valuations, Accounting & Reporting (PVAR)
team. This team plays a critical role in managing valuation, accounting, and reporting for a complex and diversified investment portfolio. The firm invests across a wide array of asset classes including public equities, private equity, debt instruments, real estate, and special purpose vehicles. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and are eager to work across a dynamic global investment platform. Key Responsibilities: Lead valuation, accounting, and reporting for assigned asset classes or investment structures. Maintain internal shadow books and records; review fund administrator reports. Analyze legal and partnership documentation for complex investment vehicles. Manage and interpret large datasets for internal, client-facing, and regulatory reporting. Research and apply U.S. GAAP accounting treatments; familiarity with IFRS and Luxembourg GAAP is a plus. Support annual audits and financial statement preparation for assigned funds. Ensure accuracy of GAAP and U.S. tax accounting entries in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Recommend and help implement process enhancements, including automation and system improvements. Prepare valuation models for private investments using internal and external data sources. Record and reconcile expense allocations and accruals across partnerships. Conduct technical research and support ad hoc projects as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field. 2+ years of relevant experience in fund accounting, public audit of investment firms, or portfolio-level financial analysis. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and tax accounting; exposure to IFRS or Luxembourg GAAP is beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; experience with relational databases, Power Query, VBA, or other programming languages is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong documentation abilities. High attention to detail and ability to think both analytically and strategically. Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities independently and within a team setting. Experience in process improvement or scalable reporting development is preferred.
