- Coverage Schedule:
- Primarily night shifts (7:00 PM 7:00 AM).
- Occasional shifts: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM; 9:00 AM 9:00 PM.
- 6 shifts/month required.
- Start Date: March 31, 2025.
- Duration: Ongoing; end date unknown.
- Shifts Per Day: 12-hour shifts; 1 2 patients/hour.
- Scope of Practice:
- Focus on lower-acuity ED patients.
- Minor procedures: I&Ds, laceration repairs.
- Assist with administrative tasks: Radiology and lab result reviews.
- Critical and STEMI/Stroke cases managed by attending physician.
- License/Certifications:
- Active Pennsylvania license required.
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, and CPR (through AHA or Red Cross).
- NIHSS certification required (must remain current annually).
- Education and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience.
- EMTALA and Stroke CME education (mandatory).
- Candidate Profile:
- Must be a PA (Physician Assistant); NPs are not eligible.
- Trauma Level: Level III.
- EMR: Cerner.
- Support Staff: Physicians always present during night shifts.
- Specialty On-Call Services:
- Trauma, Neurology, Cardiology (cath lab), OB-GYN, Orthopedics, Plastics, CT Surgery, Intensivist, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, GI, Hematology/Oncology, Pediatric Hospitalist, Vascular Surgery, and Crisis Counselors.
- Adult vs. Pediatric Mix: 80% Adult, 20% Pediatric.
- Common Procedures:
- Incision and Drainage (I&D), laceration repairs.
- Average Patient Load: 1 2 patients/hour per provider.
- Credentialing: Full or temporary privileges available (90-day process).
- NIHSS, Stroke CME, and EMTALA certifications must be completed.
- Clean malpractice record preferred.
