Position Summary We’re hiring an Accounting Manager / Director of Accounting to architect and scale our accounting function from the ground up. This is a high-impact opportunity for a rising leader to shape financial operations and infrastructure in a growth-stage environment. You’ll work closely with executive leadership to drive strategy, implement scalable systems, and ensure financial integrity across the organization. This role is on a Controller-level leadership track and offers strong growth, ownership, and cross-functional visibility.
Key Responsibilities • Establish and oversee full-cycle accounting operations (GL, AR/AP, close, reconciliations, reporting) • Implement scalable processes, controls, and policies aligned to GAAP and audit-readiness • Lead financial statement preparation and disclosures in compliance with US GAAP • Support statutory and regulatory filings; insurance or warranty-related reporting a plus • Manage ERP implementation and system integrations (NetSuite, Ramp, banking APIs, payment platforms) • Partner with FP&A on variance analysis, forecasting, and strategic finance initiatives • Identify process inefficiencies; drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives • Collaborate with actuarial, legal, and compliance stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment • Coordinate external audits and regulatory examinations; serve as accounting SME • Provide training and technical guidance on reinsurance, investment accounting, and revenue recognition • Build and lead a high-performing accounting team to support company growth within 12 months
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or Master’s strongly preferred) • 5+ years of accounting experience in public or mid-sized, high-growth corporate environments • Hands-on leadership of ERP system implementation and accounting tech stack (NetSuite preferred) • Advanced understanding of GAAP; experience with statutory or insurance accounting desirable • Proficient in financial statement preparation, month-end close, and reconciliation processes • Strong Excel/Sheets and data analysis skills; experience with BI or dashboard tools a plus • Comfortable building from scratch in fast-paced, evolving environments • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, act independently, and drive outcomes across teams
