POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent with the administration of contracts to facilitate project completion. PE is the primary point of contact for the project team for quality control and document control. The PE assists the project manager (PM) in cost and schedule control; the PE assists the superintendent in safety control. PE liaises with the design team and owner to maintain clear paths of communication and a complete project record. In addition to active project responsibilities, the PE contributes to preconstruction efforts on prospective projects
KEY COMPETENCIES
Preconstruction Support
Assist in soliciting bids, preparing quantity takeoffs, and reviewing constructability. Support site logistics and phasing plans. Prepare scope sheets, tabulate bids, and assist with post-bid documentation. Schedule Management
Assist the PM and Superintendent in developing and updating the project schedule. Coordinate schedule input from subcontractors and suppliers. Track progress and maintain scheduling logs and records. Organize and document coordination meetings. Cost Control
Support the PM in managing change orders. Distribute change documentation, perform takeoffs, and help develop cost projections. Solicit pricing and prepare change proposals. Document & Quality Control
Prepare and maintain logs for submittals, RFIs, and drawing revisions. Assist in reviewing and coordinating shop drawings and submittals across trades. Maintain meeting agendas, minutes, and project photo/video documentation. Ensure timely submittal and approval of closeout documents. Field & Quality Oversight
Conduct preparatory meetings and initial inspections for each trade's work. Track and document punch list progress and quality assurance requirements. Facilitate and document testing and inspections. Safety & Compliance
Support the Superintendent in conducting safety inspections and ensuring documentation. Promote adherence to site safety protocols and reporting requirements. General Responsibilities
Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent as needed to meet project goals. Perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree required, preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture Zero to three years of experience and/or training in the construction field Computer Skills
Proficient personal computer skills including e-mail, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Bluebeam, etc. Knowledge of or experience with project management software, scheduling software, and estimating software
