Minimum Requirements
Requires extensive knowledge of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a related field from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field directly related to occupational health and safety or public sector regulatory compliance A minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in planning, implementing or evaluating s programs in occupational health and safety as well as lead and asbestos compliance or closely related experience. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in planning, writing, creating, and implementing programs in occupational health and safety. Three (3) years' experience working with municipal government, understanding of interdepartmental knowledge relationship experience preferred.. Technical writing experience preferred. Asbestos Inspector-Management Planner certification is required and will be provided by the employer. Must possess an OSHA 30 certification in construction or general industry. Ongoing OSHA 30 certifications will be provided by the employer. Competent Personal Fall Protection is required and will be provided by the employer. OSHA train the trainer training (various topics) is required and will be provided by the employer. OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) 40-hour is required and will be provided by the employer. Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred. This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy. Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion. Additional Requirements
