Role Overview: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Bioinformatics Engineer (Contractor) with a foundational understanding of bioinformatics principles and a keen interest in pipeline development. This role will involve contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable bioinformatics pipelines, assisting in processing and curating 'omics data to support Client Platform and initiatives like Project Baseline, the All of Us Research Program, and Client Sightline for wastewater monitoring. The contractor will work under guidance, learning and growing within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and implementation of bioinformatics pipelines for processing genomic and 'omics data. Contribute to the development and management of computational workflows (e.g., WDL/Cromwell, Nextflow, or Snakemake). ">Apply basic understanding of Docker to containerize bioinformatics tools for reproducible environments. ">Support pipeline deployment and management on cloud computing platforms, primarily Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Genetics, or a closely related quantitative discipline, with 1-3 years of relevant hands-on experience (including academic projects or internships). Strong programming skills in Python, R, and Bash scripting;">Experience working with or building data pipelines (bonus if familiar with tools like Nextflow, Snakemake, or WDL/Cromwell) with docker and cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure);">Foundational understanding of genomics, next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, and other omics data types. ">Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with concepts in machine learning and AI as applied to biological data. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
