The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking an
Expert-level Software Architect
for a 30-month engagement. The architect will design and implement enterprise-grade software solutions, ensuring integration of current and emerging technologies that support the state's business needs. The position allows for up to 50% telecommuting, with an expectation of on-camera interviews and completion of required training and security protocols.Responsibilities: Implement application technology standards related to the Integrated Justice Portal, including UI, development methodology, and coding guidelines Serve as the primary technical liaison to infrastructure teams for issue resolution and performance optimization Coordinate with infrastructure on performance testing, failover planning, endurance testing, and deployment activities Analyze, design, and review code for enterprise applications using JAVA/JEE, JSF, XML, XSLT, and IBM Portal/WebSphere Lead development tasks involving data modeling, manipulation, logical database design, testing, and implementation Create and review detailed technical documentation such as design documents, schemas, and architectural plans Provide technical mentorship and leadership to development team members Participate in knowledge transfer activities including code reviews, documentation, and technical guidance Qualifications: 7 years
of experience designing and implementing highly available, scalable multi-tier applications using Object-Oriented or Service-Oriented Architecture, including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns 7 years
of experience writing and maintaining code using EJB 3.0+ and JPA/Hibernate 7 years
of experience planning, designing, and implementing enterprise applications using JSF/JSP 7 years
of experience planning, designing, and implementing web service solutions using JAXB/JAX-WS Preferred Educational Attainment:
