Silvus Technologies is seeking a full-time Senior Electronics Design Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager, Product Design on the Hardware Engineering team. The successful individual will participate in the development of Silvus’ MANET radios and other advanced R&D projects with an emphasis on Electronics Hardware/PCBA design. This position is on a hybrid schedule, requiring a minimum of 3 days onsite per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) at Silvus’ HQ in West Los Angeles, CA. Responsibilities include component selection, schematic capture, and PCB design of electrical systems based on an FPGA SoC with associated memory devices, transceivers, communication peripherals, and power management circuitry. The role requires following good design practices for mixed signal PCB design, defining PCB stack up, materials, and design rules to meet performance and manufacturing requirements, performing hardware bring-up, test, and root cause analysis using common lab equipment, and collaborating with PCB Designers, Software, FPGA, and RF teams for system-level implementation. Required qualifications include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 4 years of experience in digital circuit design or a Master of Science Degree plus 2 years of experience, demonstrated experience with complex mixed signal PCB design, experience implementing digital communication peripherals at a hardware level (USB 3.0, 10Gb Ethernet, RS232), and strong familiarity with test equipment such as DMM, bench top supply, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and spectrum analyzer. Preferred skills include a Master’s Degree, experience with Xilinx FPGAs, SoCs, Vivado IDE, audio and video circuit design, Altium Designer, knowledge of compliance standards (FCC, CE Mark, MIL-STD-461), and programming experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or C. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and strong problem-solving, data analysis, deductive reasoning, and communication skills. Physical requirements include lifting up to 20 lbs and occasional exposure to environmental conditions during field tests or demonstrations.
