In this role, you will perform the following: Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplines Create conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications and design analysis deliverables Coordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing production Perform quality control duties and independent technical reviews Manage assigned budgets, scopes and schedules Mentoring and providing guidance/instruction to less experienced staff members The Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. has its mission to provide a full range of services to our primary client base - U.S. Government agencies and departments. With the unique skill sets we have developed during the 100-plus years of service to our U.S. Government agencies client base, we are able to provide one-of-a-kind solutions to complex mission objectives that arise out of specific challenges faced by and unique to these agencies. Our primary areas of focus are: Architecture/Engineering (A/E) Services, Defense Program, Design/Build, Classified, and Environmental. May perform fieldwork and write assessment reports May assist with creation of design guides and templates May provide support to business development or pursuit activities As part of this role, you will be assigned to projects supporting U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. The following are preferred qualifications: Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes and best practices related to the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), low voltage, and telecommunications systems Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure to include telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivity Experience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systems Experience in audio-visual (AV) system design 4+ years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systems All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (required) Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D) certification (preferred) Normal office environment with a hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
