Days (5x8s | 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Every other weekend off) Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join their Behavioral Health team for a full-time, 26-week contract. This position offers an incredible opportunity to work within a structured psychiatric setting, contribute to patient care, and grow your mental health nursing experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician.
Administer medications and manage a large med pass.
Assist with patient admissions, treatments, and discharges.
Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
Float to different units as needed; orientation will be provided across multiple assignments.
Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams, including DSPs, PCPs, and other nurses.
Participate in 2–3 weeks of mentorship with a seasoned LVN during orientation.
Requirements:
License:
Active Texas LVN License.
Certifications:
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of total nursing experience.
Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience.
Experience with high-volume med pass required.
Home Health, Clinic, and Hospice-only backgrounds are
not
sufficient for this role.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Compliance:
Must comply with HHSC immunization, drug testing, fingerprinting, and training requirements.
COVID-19 vaccination or exemption required.
