PACE is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Technician with a comprehensive understanding of advanced electrical, instrumentation, and PLC control systems, including fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning to support our growing Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) group. The Instrumentation and Controls Technician will support the design, fabrication, and deployment of controls and instrumentation in the following market sectors: Potable & Non-Potable Water Production, Storage & Distribution Water & Wastewater Treatment Pumping Facilities Cogeneration & Solar Power Production Water Quality and Environmental Monitoring Recreational Aquatic Facilities Applicants should have the following minimum experience: At least 3 years of experience commissioning PLC control panels, troubleshooting, and modifying wiring of instrumentation equipment (transducers, transmitters, analyzers, flow meters, VFDs, motor controls, and electrically actuated valves) Skills Needed: Proficiency with troubleshooting equipment like Fluke meters Experience troubleshooting analog signals and network communication protocols such as Ethernet IP, Modbus RTU, and Modbus TCP/IP Installing and calibrating advanced instrumentation devices per manufacturer specifications, schematics, and P&IDs Understanding wiring schematics and field instrumentation wiring through experience or coursework Ability to work independently and handle complex tasks with limited supervision Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues independently or in a team Analytical skills to evaluate data and make sound decisions Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word Valid CA driver’s license and insurable driving record Preferences: The following skills are desirable but not required: Commercial/Industrial electrical experience Design of control panels and instrumentation systems Experience with P&ID development and I/O diagrams Programming experience with Modicon and/or Allen Bradley using Unity or RS Logix Proficiency with AutoCAD Experience with SCADA & HMI systems Experience working with PC networks, MS Windows, and Apple OS in industrial environments Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping, and water conveyance systems Candidate resumes will be evaluated based on experience and knowledge of the above areas. Physical Demands: This role requires sitting, using hands, handling objects, talking, and hearing. Occasionally standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Field work and travel with overnight stays are expected. Work Environment: Must have reliable transportation and flexibility to travel within California and nearby states. Work environments include moderate office noise, and field environments with machinery, electrical systems, dust, and weather exposure. Salary: Compensation is based on experience and capabilities.
