Our patent team offers industry-wide services in patent prosecution and patent portfolio development and management, as well as collaboration in transactions. The selected paralegal will be responsible for assisting IP lawyers with servicing clients’ intellectual property matters, including primarily the preparation, filing, and prosecution of domestic patent applications. THIS POSITION CAN BE LOCATED IN THE PHILADELPHIA, ATLANTA OR NEW YORK OFFICES.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performing legal research and factual investigation using on-line search engines and patent databases including researching patent families and patent ownership interests.
Assisting with patent due diligence review/acquisition evaluations.
Reviewing litigation papers to verify accurate description of patents or relevant laws/regulations.
Reviewing docket database for upcoming deadlines; reviews standard and special reports generated by patent docket clerks.
Preparing reports for clients and attorneys from databases, preparing assignments, powers of attorney and inventor declaration documents and preparing preliminary amendment to add priority claims; assist with amendment of the claims.
The Patent Prosecution Paralegal will also create and file information disclosure statements and legal requirements and standards for same, respond to lawyer questions on U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rules relating to intellectual property filings and manage the integration of patent files transferred from other firms including coordination with patent docket clerks on docket database entries.

Strong written and oral communication skills, research, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential to be successful in this position.
Required Experience
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree or significant relevant work experience in patent prosecution in place of degree. Previous patent prosecution experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department is preferred. A working knowledge of patent docketing procedures and experience with U.S. patent filings. A high degree of technical proficiency in the firm’s computer applications including but not limited to MS Office and knowledge of docketing software, preferably IP Manager. Must be able to work beyond the standard scheduled hours as needed.
