Regional CMT Engineer Discipline Lead - Principal
responsible for executing technical oversight and final review for Construction Materials Testing projects in the Texas Region. This role ensures all project work complies with client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The position involves working closely with office leadership, field and laboratory staff, and clients to deliver high-quality results. The Regional CMT Discipline Lead acts as a subject matter expert in construction materials testing, mentors technicians and engineers, and supports operational excellence across projects. The Lead will serve as a technical subject matter expert for CMT design and project execution in Texas, supporting and leading Materials Testing initiatives and assisting in proposal efforts for CMT projects. Responsibilities Provide senior technical oversight and expertise on complex proposals and projects. Examine engineering reports, lot letters, and field recommendations produced by field staff. Provide recommendations to leadership and offer mentorship and guidance to engineers and project managers. Generate reports, recommendations, and documentation needed by clients, including engineering and design reports. Conduct site meetings, prepare site estimates, and make project recommendations for prospective and current clients. Create, prepare, and update project proposals and technical reports promptly. Collaborate with senior management to improve reporting procedures' consistency and efficiency. Develop and manage projects with new and existing clients, ensuring profitability. Participate in business development, networking, and marketing activities. Review, update, and approve invoices weekly for ongoing projects. Maintain excellent communication with senior management, project managers, and colleagues, both verbally and electronically. Follow all safety procedures and policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university. Professional Engineering license (PE) with the ability to obtain additional state licenses as needed. At least 15 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing design and project execution. Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Knowledge of geotechnical and construction materials testing methods, ASTM standards, and soil classifications. Ability to analyze geotechnical and testing data results. Ability to interpret construction documents, detailed reports, and correspondence. Proficiency in completing field-testing documentation and detailed figures. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Excellent technical writing skills for reports, proposals, and manuals. Effective presentation skills for one-on-one and small group settings. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Boring Log software, AutoCAD, and other engineering software. Strong leadership qualities and attention to detail. Physical Demands & Work Environment Exposure to outdoor weather conditions such as precipitation, extreme cold or heat, dust, and noise. Office work requires long-term sitting and computer use. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk, and drive long distances. Frequent use of fingers, hands, and arms for typing and communication devices. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, lift, and push repeatedly. Effective speaking and hearing skills, even in noisy environments.
