Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically adept Junior Data Analyst to join our Data Transformation Program. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, a solid grasp of data profiling and transformation concepts, and hands-on experience with SQL and metadata documentation. This role will involve working with enterprise-level data systems, ETL processes, and metadata management tools such as Collibra, and requires close collaboration with data stewards, engineers, and business analysts.
Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive data profiling to understand data structures, patterns, and quality issues across multiple sources.
Analyze and interpret ETL logic, primarily in IBM DataStage, to extract and document transformation rules and business logic.
Create and maintain detailed source-to-target mappings and transformation specifications supporting ingestion and migration processes.
Document and validate business rules, data lineage, and technical requirements across structured and semi-structured data environments.
Populate and manage metadata assets within Collibra, including data definitions, mappings, classifications, and business terms.
Collaborate with data stewards, engineers, and business analysts to ensure consistency with the Enterprise Business Model and governance frameworks.
Support data reconciliation, validation, and resolution of mapping and data quality issues throughout the lifecycle of the program.
Ensure all documentation adheres to standards and is structured to support regulatory, governance, and audit needs.
Required Experience & Skills: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in a data analyst or technical business analyst capacity.
Proficiency in SQL for data exploration, profiling, querying, and validation.
Exposure to ETL tools, with the ability to interpret and document transformation logic (IBM DataStage experience highly preferred).
Strong experience preparing source-to-target mapping (STTM) documentation and business rule specifications.
Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and structured documentation skills.
Familiarity with Collibra or similar tools for data governance and metadata management.
Competency in Excel and other structured formats for documentation and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications: Exposure to data migration, data warehousing, or enterprise data modeling initiatives.
Familiarity with data governance, metadata standards, and data stewardship processes in large organizations.
Background in financial services, insurance, or regulatory compliance data environments.
Working knowledge of JSON, XML, or API-based data structures and formats.
Reporting Structure: You will report to the Data Lead, Senior Data Analyst, or Program Manager, depending on project alignment.
