Job no: 536534 Work type: Staff Full-Time Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Categories: Health Care Administration/Support Department: MD-PATH-STUDENT HEALTH Classification Title: Medical Technologist Supervisor Minimum Requirements: Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated and four years of appropriate experience. Job Description: Supervise and perform laboratory testing of human biological samples for diagnostic purposes using various methodologies. Testing includes, but is not limited to, operation of state-of-the-art automated point of-care, chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation systems and performing various clinical laboratory assays using automated and/or manual methods. Responsible for all routine quality assurance activities associated with the performance of laboratory and point-of-care testing; includes reporting results and all quality control documentation. Ensure the overall maintenance of the laboratory. Purchase supplies, maintain instruments and equipment, and comply with all laboratory policies and procedures. Keeps laboratory procedure manuals up to date. Responsible for keeping the UFHPL Student Health Care Center Core Lab in a continual state of high-quality readiness per CAP, AHCA and CLIA requirements. Conduct performance appraisals and competency assessments for staff. Actively oversee the interfacing of automated instrumentation with the laboratory information system (LIS); involved in LIS-associated tasks such as test builds and dictionary maintenance. Participate, with other technologists, in development of tests as defined by the laboratory director. Expected Salary: Starting salary is between $74,000 - $82,500 Required Qualifications: Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated and four years of appropriate experience. Preferred: Prior Clinical Laboratory experience in the areas of Point-of-Care, Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Coagulation. - Experience in phlebotomy - Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute laboratory testing. - Ability to use problem solving techniques in the laboratory. - Ability to communicate with other technologists and supervisors. - Ability to collect and analyze data. - Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures for clinical testing Special Instructions to Applicants: In order to be considered, you must upload your cover letter and resume.
