Programmers consult with management, systems analysts, other programmers, and end users to gather information about program intent, functions and features, data requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems. They design and write program specifications based on these consultations. Programmers translate designs and specifications into computer code, develop layouts for onscreen user interfaces, printed outputs, and system interfaces. Ultimately, HTC Programmers help ensure that all assigned programs are properly maintained and that end users are trained to reflect any changes in policies, procedures, tariffs, and equipment. This position may have varied levels of responsibilities and pay opportunities. Consideration of relevant skills, knowledge, and prior experience are factors used to determine selection and placement of applicants. Other levels may include Programmer Analyst and Senior Programmer Analyst. Seniority level
