Overview
seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a background in Cardiology for a locum tenens assignment. This role covers both inpatient and outpatient settings and includes scheduled clinical hours along with in-house call coverage. You ll join a well-supported team, collaborating with cardiologists to manage general, heart failure, interventional, and electrophysiology patients. APPs in this role do not perform cardiac testing but can order tests as needed. Telehealth may be used in cases of severe weather.
- Conduct cardiology consults, inpatient rounds, and outpatient clinic visits
- Collaborate with hospitalists to create discharge plans for cardiology patients
- Manage patient floor calls (approx. 4 5 per month on weekdays and 1 weekend per month)
- Provide follow-up care post-cardiac procedures and hospitalizations
- Respond to ER and ICU consults as needed (Cardiac ICU only)
- Order and interpret stress testing (nuclear, echo, treadmill)
- Participate in in-house and beeper call rotation
- Licensed in Missouri or eligible through the IMLC
- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Cardiology
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, ABLS, ATLS, PALS
- Hospital privileges required (temporary privileges available)
- Experience in both inpatient and outpatient cardiology strongly preferred
- Must be comfortable supervising advanced practice providers
- No residents or teaching supervision required
- Clinic: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
- Hospital: 7:00 AM 4:00 PM
- Call Requirements: In-house and beeper; 30-minute response time required
- Telehealth: May be utilized for inclement weather
- Comfortable seeing up to 19 patients/day in clinic
- Ability to work independently while coordinating care in a collaborative environment
- Strong knowledge of post-procedural cardiac care
- Familiarity with cardiac ICU workflow and consults
- Experience using Epic EMR preferred
