Overview
This Cook position is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of foods, completion of production sheets, and other associated food service activities in a hospital kitchen. The position is scheduled from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm, with some shifts from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Candidates may be asked to work on weekends and holidays. This role supports Marlow Manor, a senior living facility located in East Anchorage. Responsibilities
Perform all main line food production duties as assigned by the shift. Review daily needs with supervisors, complete production sheets, and verify supply needs and availability. Ensure quality and quantity control in food production and maintain sanitation standards in assigned areas. Assist in supervising and training food service personnel. Coordinate with kitchen helpers/assistants for smaller item preparations. Oversee food serving areas to ensure proper stocking and sanitation. Implement proper rotation procedures for food deliveries. Maintain food production equipment and storage areas following sanitation, safety, and operational procedures. Assist other food service personnel as needed. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Perform other relevant duties to support the department or unit’s success. Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Must obtain a Municipality of Anchorage Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe Certification within 30 days of hire. At least one (1) year of line cook experience. At least two (2) years of general food service experience. Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English. Preferred Qualifications
Six (6) months baking experience. Six (6) months of scratch cooking experience. Two (2) years of culinary degree or technical school training. Ability to instruct and train others and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Indoor, environmentally controlled environment. Noise level ranges from quiet to moderate. The kitchen is an industrial setting within a healthcare environment. Physical requirements include frequent standing, walking, handling or feeling with hands, talking/hearing, seeing, tasting/smelling, and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. Infrequent activities include stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Core Competencies and Values
