Job Description Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Location: Ottumwa, IA
Shift: 07:30 AM - 03:30 PM
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Radiation Therapist to join our team, providing high-quality care to our patients. In this role, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver radiation therapy treatments and collaborate with physicians to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities: - Administer radiation treatments to patients while ensuring safety and comfort. - Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to develop treatment plans. - Perform quality assurance procedures on radiation equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols. - Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using Electronic Health Records (EHR). - Conduct chart reviews and assist with patient evaluations as necessary. - Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and support throughout the treatment process.
Qualifications: - Must possess a degree in Radiation Therapy or a related field. - Required certification as a Radiation Therapist. - Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting preferred. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Unit Information: - Number of Beds: Varies - Average Patient Ratios: 15-24 on machines - Equipment: Varian True Beam, GE CT Scanner - Patient Population: Primarily adult, no pediatric patients.
Preferred Skills: - Experience in physics coverage and dosimetry. - Familiarity with CT simulation and chart checks.
Working Conditions: - Full-time position with guaranteed weekly hours. - Availability to work additional hours based on patient volume and needs.
Dress Code: - Scrub color is not specified; candidates should dress in professional attire compliant with facility standards.
