Overview
The Server Administrator role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the physical and virtual server environment. This role includes the monitoring of performance and administration of systems. The administrator will also play a key role in documenting and validating the Data Center Disaster Recovery process.
The Server Administrator demonstrates commitment to the understanding and updating of system documentation and administrative support to the IT Department. The position is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures
Additionally, the position acts as a backup to the Data Center Coordinator on duties involving daily administration of ERP application and Data Center duties.
Responsibilities
Support activities surrounding Victaulic's Server infrastructure to include: Server administration and server patching Backup and restore administration Vulnerability Management Troubleshoot server hardware to the component level, when necessary Software and OS installations/upgrades Perform installations, moves, additions and changes for servers and related peripherals Log details of support provided in the service desk trouble-ticketing system Create and maintain documentation for HW/SW assets and problem resolution details Stay informed of new technologies in hardware and software, troubleshooting, automation technologies Attend formal training Work nights or weekends as required Work fluidly with all global infrastructure teams Performance Management:
Monitor server infrastructure performance and reports status to EHSS Manager Ensures SLAs are met and appropriately configured based on needs to business and requirements of implemented technology. Manages monitoring/logging/alerting/reporting Undertakes routine preventative measures Server and Storage:
Maintains and monitors server infrastructure landscape at global on-premises locations and public cloud. Works with business to ensure understanding of server and software requirements Installs new hardware, systems, and software as needed Configures / reconfigures monitoring hardware / software as needed Qualifications
Work Experience:
Requires 3+ years' experience supporting Windows Server Environment and/or experience with IBM iSeries Technical Experience:
Experience supporting Windows Server 2012 and newer Knowledge of IBM iSeries server and OS/400 commands Knowledge of AWS/Azure public cloud Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access) Technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills required General Requirements:
Ability to prioritize and multitask Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Must be able to work unsupervised Provide coverage during vacations and holidays Education & Certifications:
Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience
