This position will be expected to prepare and execute business plans to drive performance of retail merchandising operations by interpreting market trends and historical inventory offerings, work with marketing to develop marketing programs and negotiate with and procure from vendors appropriate products and quantities. The Merchandise Manager is responsible for merchandise selection, procurement, pricing, inventory and profitability. This position will be expected to achieve financial results established by the organization.
- Champion the pre-inventory process for the Resort to include arranging the pre-meeting, area ticket, coordinate with Regis, submitting files, etc.
- Merchandise Manager is not responsible for actual inventory counts or shortages for other Departments
- Lead trainer for all "superusers" of Yellow Dog - to include a tutorial of AVID along with it.
- Superusers will mainly include Department Heads and/or Buyers.
- Select and procure golf merchandise for the Resort retail outlets.
- Negotiate terms, discounts and purchases from approved vendors.
- Develop and execute the merchandise open to buy plan, including product selection, quantities, price point and product promotion for Golf.
- Develop and execute the golf merchandise open to buy plan.
- Create a comprehensive merchandise plan for the overall Business. Evaluate historical sales and volumes by product category, margin, and vendor and apply appropriate buying decisions in accordance with achieving NMROI through an open to buy system.
- Manage all facets of the inventory management system including, POS, sku's, open to buy, physical inventories and sales per customer goals for Golf and assisting with this function for all other retail locations.
- Ensure the dissemination of product knowledge to sales associates.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, national brands and other product sources.
- Drive sales to achieve budgetary and performance goals.
- Provide merchandising direction for Business Retail operations.
- Research market trends and merchandise lines to identify new product opportunities.
- Work cross-functionally with operations and marketing teams.
- Support management team in all facets of Retail Merchandising.
- Support sales associates, including the training of sales associates in accordance with company policy and procedure.
- Check in all delivered goods and verify accuracy and quality of merchandise to purchase order.
- Enter all received goods into inventory system and disperse accordingly to the proper stores.
- Manage all receipts, invoices, and purchase orders in accordance with accounts payable and procedures.
- Manage transfers and receipt of transfers from store to store.
- Maintain proper inventory procedures and report to DOG and accounting department.
- Print labels and receipts and distribute to appropriate operations personnel.
- Monitor par levels and communicate inventory levels to appropriate operations manager.
- Manage inventory reconciliation and coordinate inventory process with operations team.
- Secure all merchandise.
- Attend merchandise show and help to evaluate new business opportunities.
Requirements
• Required: Minimum of 3 years experience in a buyer/retail golf merchandising capacity.
• Required: Strong knowledge of golf equipment, apparel, and trends in golf retail.
• Required: Budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting skills related to retail sales.
• Demonstrate managerial and leadership skills.
• Strong business and financial analytical skills.
• Strong retail math acumen, including elements of matrix open to buy analysis, margin planning, inventory productivity measures (WOS, T/O, GMROI, NMROI).
• Proven ability to create and execute a sound business strategy.
• Ability to build / maintain strong Vendor partnerships.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Self starter/leader.
• Willingness to travel.
• Experience with "Micros" and POS/ Inventory management systems a plus.
