Purpose : To provide outreach and counseling to students to promote attendance and academic success. The advocate counselor will support the goals of the district and grant by ensuring students are provided with quality academic experiences that prepares them for post-secondary education, meaningful employment, healthy relationships and participation in communities.

9 Month
Note:
The term of the grant is temporary (5 years). Tenure status is not available.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience Current Alabama Teaching Certificate Demonstrates the ability to support student achievement, social/emotional development and career Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups
General Responsibilities
Uses school data to identify and assist individual students who do not perform at grade level and do not have opportunities and resources to be successful in school. Work with students to create yearly, data-driven goals that advance their outcomes in areas of academic, social/emotional, and college/career development. Uses the skills of leadership, advocacy and collaboration to create systemic change to improve the academic, social/emotional, and post-graduate success of all students. Fosters family and community partnerships to support the social/emotional and academic development of all students. Collaborates with school staff in the analysis of student performance data, rigorous goal-setting, and development of effective action plans for improving academic, social/emotional, and post-graduate outcomes for all students. Work collaboratively with school staff, district specialists and Full Service Community Grant Director Perform duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee
Salary:
According to the Certified Teacher Salary Schedule not to exceed $60,000
