Position Summary The Advance Practice Provider role provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral and follow-up for patients seen in the Clinical Services area of the Health Department primarily in STI, Family Planning, Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Programs in addition to providing support for PrEP, Rapid ART and TB/Refugee and Colposcopy Programs. This position, with a high degree of autonomy, functions as a physician extender and provides healthcare services to include preventive and acute care.
Emergency Preparedness All employees of Mecklenburg County Health Department, regardless of official title or classification, are required to respond to and provide services during urgent and/or emergent public health events. These services include, but are not limited to, administration of immunizations for various ages and groups, mass medication distribution, and provision of health services in shelter environments.
Essential Functions •Ensure compliance with agreement addenda requirements and agency policies and procedures for STI, Family Planning, Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP), Rapid ART, PrEP, and/or Tb/Refugee and/or Colposcopy programs •Obtain and review patient histories and perform physical exams and assessments •Formulate care plan and provides patient counseling and education •Order and review labwork and diagnostic tests •Prescribe medication and determine patient follow up •Document in EMR in a timely fashion. •Bill and code appropriately •Coordinate treatment and plan with clinical staff and other physicians, when indicated •Assists staff with other nursing or medication related duties as needed •Participate in public health emergency response activities as needed
Minimum Qualifications Experience: No Experience Required
Education:
Graduation from a nurse practitioner or physician assistant program approved by the NC Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners.

Licenses and Certifications •Maintain Medical Board License as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. •CPR certification from the American Heart Association, valid through first 90 days of employment. •Obtain required FEMA certifications (upon hire if not already obtained).
Preferred Qualifications •Bilingual (English/Spanish) •Public Health experience (STI, PrEP) •1-2 years of Family Planning, STI, or related professional experience, highly preferred •IUD and Hormonal Implant training and experience (for FP providers) •Tb/LTBI experience (for Tb/Refugee providers) •Obtain and maintain national certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

Computer Skills •Intermediate in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite and EMR applications
