Chief Medical Officer / Chief Clinical Officer - Executive Leadership OpportunityLocation: Indianapolis, INJob Type: Full-Time, permanent positionAbout the Organization:Join a mission-driven, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing integrated medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare to underserved and uninsured populations across Indiana. Indiana Health Centers (IHC) operates ten healthcare centers and eight WIC sites, serving diverse communities with a deep commitment to access, dignity, and excellence in care.Position Overview:The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) or Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) is a senior executive leadership role responsible for overseeing clinical programs and licensed providers across IHC s statewide network. This individual ensures that all care delivered meets the highest quality standards, aligns with regulatory and organizational requirements, and reflects IHC s mission of compassionate care for underserved populations. CMO must be a licensed MD or DO CCO must be a licensed Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA)This role is central to shaping clinical strategy, supporting provider performance, and fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Clinical Oversight: Provide hands-on leadership to all medical and behavioral providers Conduct provider evaluations and support professional development Visit health centers regularly to mentor teams and assess needs Participate in executive-level budgeting and strategic planningCare Quality & Compliance: Ensure evidence-based, integrated care across medical, dental, and behavioral services Maintain compliance with clinical standards, quality measures, and regulatory requirements Lead clinical committees (e.g., peer review, credentialing) Oversee FTCA malpractice coverage and re-credentialing systemsStrategic Planning & Policy Development: Shape and implement strategic initiatives with the CEO and Board of Directors Drive operational efficiency, provider workflows, and clinical onboarding Develop short- and long-term goals for service improvement and population healthTalent Recruitment & Retention: Partner with HR to recruit, evaluate, and retain top-tier providers Foster a clinical culture rooted in mission, engagement, and growth Ensure new hires meet standards of clinical excellenceQualifications:Chief Medical Officer (CMO): MD or DO licensed and in good standing in Indiana Board certified in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or Internal Medicine Minimum 7 years of clinical leadership experience FQHC or community health experience strongly preferredChief Clinical Officer (CCO): Licensed NP or PA in Indiana Minimum 5 years of FQHC experience Minimum 7 years of clinical leadership and management experience Proven commitment to caring for underserved populations
