An aerospace and defense organization is seeking a Mid-Level Network Designer to join its team. This position supports critical communications and network systems for defense, space, and security programs. The ideal candidate will work closely with IT Business Success Leaders and stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure that supports programmatic and organizational goals. Key Responsibilities: Lead and perform identification, analysis, and documentation of network LAN requirements and services (e.g., wireless, data, voice, video, cable, wire) aligned to business goals, security, and cost constraints. Collaborate within cross-functional teamsincluding Transport, MAN/WAN, Structured Cabling, and Project Managementthrough agile sprint methodologies. Oversee and consult on work intake processes, backlog prioritization, and execution in coordination with IT leaders, Product Owners, and ScrumMasters. Create and document network designs that align with architecture and security standards, using standard templates and implementation packages. Prepare and deploy complex implementation packages and coordinate installations according to organizational standards. Provide Level 3 support for incident and problem management, including proactive and reactive network maintenance using diagnostic tools. Participate in component research to support broader evaluations and design recommendations. Lead implementation planning for multi-technology projects using established project management methodologies. Apply critical thinking and innovative problem-solving to network challenges. Basic Qualifications: 3+ years of experience with Cisco routers, switches, and Cisco IOS implementations 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN environments 3+ years of experience with TCP/IP network protocols Ability to support after-hours change windows and implementations Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, including nights and weekends Preferred Qualifications: Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) Experience with Arista networking equipment Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Proficiency with Cisco CLI and NTP configuration Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama Understanding of IPSEC and GRE tunnel configurations Experience with monitoring and analysis tools such as Splunk Workplace & Compensation: This organization is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace, with testing required as appropriate based on company policy. Compensation Range: $87,550 $136,850 Pay is based on experience, qualifications, and market considerations.
