Description Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Description Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Export Control : This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed. In this role as a Network Development Engineer, you will design and implement Kuiper's enterprise networks supporting manufacturing facilities, research labs, launch sites, and mission operations centers. Responsible for LAN/WAN architecture, routing, and switching across multiple global locations. Key job responsibilities Design network architecture for manufacturing and lab environments Build and maintain launch and mission operations networks Create network standards and configurations Plan network capacity and growth Implement routing and switching solutions Manage WAN connectivity between sites Develop network automation Document network infrastructure Up to 25% Travel A day in the life Your day begins reviewing network monitoring alerts across manufacturing facilities and mission operations centers. You'll analyze traffic patterns and capacity needs for the factory floor while planning network expansion for new lab spaces. During technical design sessions, you'll architect network solutions for upcoming launch sites, considering redundancy and security requirements. You'll coordinate with vendors on WAN circuit installations, troubleshoot routing issues affecting production systems, and mentor team members on complex network deployments. Time is split between hands-on configuration of critical infrastructure and leading design reviews for new network implementations. You'll participate in change management meetings, schedule maintenance windows, and document network modifications. Throughout the day, you'll handle escalations from manufacturing teams, validate network security controls, and ensure high availability across all sites. The role requires balancing immediate operational needs with long-term architecture planning while maintaining network reliability for mission-critical operations. This is an on-site role that requires employees to work from the company's office 5 days per week. Remote work is not an option for this position. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
