Overview
Work closely with the sales teams (sales executives, sales managers, sales engineers) to position Optical Pluggable and Subsystem products within the hyperscaler group of customers. Coach the sales team on identifying and driving Optical business to closure.
The Principal Consulting Engineer is a key pre-sales role where influence on hyperscalers is leveraged to develop interest and RFx definition around Nokia key product attributes. This position also works closely with PLM, R&D and the Standards teams on technology, standardization and roadmap strategies across optical and routing.
Candidate must be able to meet with influential customer decision makers and communicate verbally or via presentation tools the exact details of NOKIA's Optical product capabilities and the specific solutions being offered to customer.
Candidate must develop technical material, such as white papers and PowerPoint presentations to convince customer that our product and delivery capabilities are their best option for success. Candidate must be able to document network designs and recommendations using presentation tools, like PowerPoint and design tools, like Visio.
Candidate must be prepared to feed accurate product development feedback into product line management based on current and anticipated customer requirements.
Candidate will be a key element in the Optical Hyperscaler business development team positioning product technical benefits and how they provide TCO leadership
Candidate must conduct sales effort with maximum integrity, ensuring that product capabilities are accurately represented to customer and that NOKIA can deliver proposed solutions in the anticipated timeframe.
Candidate will work jointly with account management and many other departments and groups within NOKIA to leverage key technology experts to define the technical sales strategy.
You have:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 10-12 years of extensive relevant experience in the semiconductor, photonics, or optical communications industry, with a focus on selling complex technical products to hyperscalers and optical module manufacturers.
Photonics Knowledge: Deep understanding of photonics components, optical modules, optical interconnects, and related technologies. Experience with high-speed optical communication systems, coherent DSP and optics and deep understanding of optical system overall performance.
Driving Technical Strategy at Hyperscalers: Combines profound professional expertise with a holistic sense for the business and commercial environment, and contributes to shaping solution or solution architecture strategy in the early phase of opportunity development within the area of expertise, in order to achieve business objectives. Develops long-term partnerships with key customers based on thought leadership, and acts as technical authority to create long-term business impact.
Travel: Willingness to travel up to 40% to meet customers, attend industry events, and engage with potential clients.
It would be nice if also you had:
Expertise in the hyperscale ecosystem including high-performance computing markets and an understanding of Artificial Intelligence networking requirements. Hyperscaler subsea segment experience including previous support on subsea cable trials and commissioning
Familiarity with optical module industry standards (e.g., OIF, IEEE, ITU). Strong network of industry contacts and established relationships with key players in the photonics, data center, and telecom sectors. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
