Position Title: Dispatcher Department: Operations Reports To: Dispatch Manager Location: Oakley, CA Schedule: Monday
Friday (Full-Time) Compensation: Commensurate with experience and skill set Position Summary
The Transportation Dispatcher plays a pivotal role in the daily logistics and operational execution of Pac Pride Distribution, a 30-year-old company with multiple warehouses across the U.S. and distribution routes extending to Hawaii. This role ensures that all freightparticularly fixtures and equipment for the grocery store industryis moved efficiently, on schedule, and with a high standard of professionalism. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment. The Dispatcher is expected to work independently, solve problems proactively, and collaborate effectively across drivers, customers, and internal teams. Key Responsibilities
Monitor and respond to all incoming transportation requests via email and phone. Assign loads to drivers and carriers promptly based on location, availability, and equipment requirements. Maintain real-time communication with drivers and carriers to address delays and issues as they arise. Update all load details accurately in the ITS Dispatch system and on the written dispatch board. Verify completion and accuracy of all trip documentation, including Bill of Ladings (BOLs) and Proof of Deliveries (PODs). Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and internal teams to set and meet expectations. Manage and document detention, layover, and accessorial charges in accordance with company policy. Dispatch freight for both in-house drivers and third-party carriers. Utilize ITS Dispatch software (training provided) and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and typing (minimum 50 WPM). Adapt to frequent changes in load assignments and customer requests with professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset. Answer phones, manage equipment inventory, and coordinate with a diverse range of drivers and team members. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications
Prior experience in transportation or dispatching is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High attention to detail and ability to multitask. Technological proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and dispatching software. Ability to remain composed and organized in a high-volume, dynamic environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Employment Terms
90-Day Probationary Period:
All new hires are subject to a 90-day probation during which performance, attendance, and overall fit are evaluated. Note:
