Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Director of Construction oversees all aspects of construction project execution, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality delivery. This role leads strategic planning, manages internal teams and subcontractors, and ensures safety and compliance across multiple concurrent projects.
Director of Construction Responsibilities Ensure accurate "as-built" drawings are delivered and used for continuous improvement feedback.
Oversee construction schedules and budgets, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.
Provide regular progress updates and recommend project modifications as needed.
Supervise team leads and oversee scheduling, labor assignments, and subcontractor performance.
Approve weekly timesheets and oversee wage compliance and reporting.
Manage project timelines in partnership with operations scheduling staff.
Address safety concerns, quality control, and worksite challenges proactively.
Review construction drawings for feasibility and brand consistency.
Implement systems and procedures to optimize project workflows.
Manage equipment needs, vendor coordination, and material deliveries.
Conduct site reviews and monitor ongoing project status and risk mitigation.
Uphold high construction standards and industry best practices.
Support trade apprenticeship programs through mentorship and committee involvement.
Participate in hiring, discipline, and termination decisions following company policies.
Promote and enforce strict safety standards to ensure zero lost-time incidents.
Utilize training tools and performance reviews to develop solar installation teams. Director of Construction Position Requirements 10+ years of construction experience with leadership progression.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Working knowledge of NEC, IBC, and local building codes.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; Procore experience a plus.
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Valid driver's license (CDL eligibility preferred).
