*Job Title:* Certified Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist
*Location:* Rockford, IL
*Shift: *Days 10 hrs
*Job Type:* Contract
*Pay Breakdown*
* Taxable Rate: $39/hour
* Stipend: $1,246/week
* Weekly Gross Pay: $2,806/week
* Blended Rate: ~$70.15/hour
*Job Summary:*
The Certified Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist is a key member of the surgical team, responsible for assisting in cardiovascular surgeries by preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring that necessary surgical instruments and equipment are available and functioning. The CVOR Tech works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency in high-stakes cardiac surgeries.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile fields for cardiovascular procedures.
* Assist the surgical team during procedures such as open-heart surgeries, vascular grafts, bypasses, valve replacements, and other cardiac-related operations.
* Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout the procedure.
* Ensure all necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are available and in good working order before and during surgery.
* Handle specimens correctly and ensure proper labeling.
* Assist with room turnover and restocking after procedures.
* Adhere strictly to hospital policies, infection control guidelines, and surgical protocols.
* Collaborate effectively with surgeons, circulating nurses, and anesthesia providers during operative procedures.
* Document surgical counts and equipment usage accurately.
*Requirements:*
* *Certification:* Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – required.
* Additional CVOR-specific certification (e.g., TS-C (Tech in Surgery – Certified)) preferred.
* *Experience:* Minimum of 1–2 years of recent experience in a cardiovascular OR setting required.
* *Education:* Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
* *BLS certification:* Required.
* *ACLS certification:* Preferred or required depending on facility.
* *Technical Skills:* Familiarity with specialized cardiovascular surgical instruments and equipment, including heart-lung machines and endoscopic tools.
* *EMR proficiency:* Experience with electronic medical record systems (e.g., EPIC) is a plus.
