Description
The pharmacy intern 2 builds on the intern 1 position developing knowledge-base and competency by providing experience in a progressive tiered fashion under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. The intern will learn to perform all drug distribution functions and then progress to more advanced clinical assignments typically over a 4 year period (P1 - P4 years). Functions performed include, but are not limited to: preparing medications for dispensing both sterile and non-sterile compounds, stocking automated dispensing machines, delivering medications, performing admission medication histories, medication counseling and patient education. In addition, the pharmacy intern will assist in precepting pharmacy technicians' and IPPE pharmacy students, participate in educational experiences, projects, and engage in scholarship. The pharmacy intern ensures that patient care is provided under the supervision of a registered pharmacist through compliance with the department's policies. As experiences build over the time the intern is employed, responsibilities carry over in the job description from one position to the next. Estimated pay range for this position is $19.15 - $24.90 / hour depending on experience.
