As our Digital Content Specialist – China Market, you will help grow the team’s presence across Chinese platforms by creating and localizing content for fans in China. You will manage day-to-day activity on Weibo, Douyin, Kuaishou, and Red (Xiaohongshu), while working closely with internal departments to support retail, partnerships, and marketing goals for the Chinese market. Our ideal candidate is a creative and culturally fluent storyteller with a deep understanding of Chinese social media platforms, trends, and fan behavior. You’re fluent in both Mandarin and English, skilled at creating engaging content tailored for platforms in China and the U.S., and passionate about connecting global audiences to the game of basketball. We’re looking for someone who brings creativity, adaptability, and strong collaboration skills to our growing content team. DAY-TO-DAY: Manage daily posting, fan engagement, and community management across Chinese platforms, including Weibo, Douyin, Kuaishou, and Red. Create original content for Chinese platforms that reflects the team’s voice and appeals to Chinese audiences. Collaborate with the content and creative teams to adapt and localize team content for use on Chinese platforms. Work closely with NBA China and/or external agencies on content strategy, planning, and execution. Provide regular performance reporting and content insights to help guide planning and optimization. Identify and integrate culturally relevant and appropriate trends, memes, and moments to authentically engage fans and shape creative concepts. Contribute to broader company objectives by supporting retail initiatives, paid social efforts, and partnership activations targeting Chinese audiences. Support content creation for the team’s U.S. social media channels, with a focus on international players and globally relevant moments. Contribute to AAPI Month content planning and execution in collaboration with internal teams. Write and translate captions, headlines, and text overlays in Mandarin and English with an eye toward cultural relevance, tone, voice, and clarity. Provide cultural insights and recommendations to inform campaign planning, messaging, and brand storytelling for the Chinese market. May travel occasionally with the team to support content capture and activations. WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE: Deep understanding of Chinese social media platforms, trends, and fan behavior. Fluency in Mandarin and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages. Demonstrated experience creating and managing engaging content on Chinese digital platforms, including Douyin, Weibo, Kuaishou, and Red. Ability to ideate and execute original content with creativity and cultural relevance. Comfort collaborating across departments and managing multiple deadlines. Working knowledge of video editing and graphic design tools (e.g., CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.). Interest in basketball and a passion for global fan engagement. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset. Cultural sensitivity/awareness of how social and political context influences content reception in China.
