TPG is now seeking motivated, dependable Heavy Vehicle Technicians who will support heavy vehicle testing, performance and maintenance in Fairbanks, AK. Successful candidates will perform maintenance and repairs on pre-production test vehicles, conduct safety inspections, perform specialized test procedures and document findings on reports in a clear and concise manner.Why join TPG? Our team members enjoy:Hourly pay with potential for overtime paid weekly through direct depositFull benefits including 401k, medical/dental/vision, life insurance, short-term disability, paid time off, and paid holidaysAn opportunity to work in the automotive industry alongside OEMs contributing towards the development of truck technology.Role ResponsibilitiesPerform instructed tests and repairs with great attention to detailDocument tests, repairs, and configurations in descriptive and understandable notesFabricate and install instrumentation as required to perform testsMust be flexible and willing to travel and/or drive a tractor-trailer for full shifts when neededOther duties as assigned; cleaning shop, oil changes, engine overhauls, driving, etc. Our ideal candidate will be someone who offers many of the following skills:Minimum of two years of heavy-duty mechanic experience.Knowledge of diagnostic programs and willingness to learn new diagnostic programsBe prepared to work weekends or overtime if test validation is necessaryBe highly organized, dedicated to assignments and committed to safetyMust be able to understand and operate current electronic office equipment (PC hardware and Microsoft Suite software (Office/Word/Excel) and interface with data collection devicesAble to work cooperatively in a diverse and challenging environmentHave a good command of the English language with good written and verbal communication skillsMachine shop tool and fabrication skills (plus)A Commercial Driver's License, Class A is a plusHigh School Diploma or equivalent education Associate degree with an emphasis in Automotive or related field is a plusA clean motor vehicle driving record is necessaryGeneral knowledge of CMVsBe prepared to accept temporary assignments away from the home test facility. Travel includes Arizona, Alaska, Florida, Chicago, Indiana and other states.Other important considerations include: Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to be drug-free and pass DOT drug screening prior to employmentStanding, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving items of up to 50 lbs and moreAbility to perform essential job functions in an environment with varied noise levelsThe environment may be dusty, noisy and open to interior and exterior temperature changesAbout TPG: We are a team of automotive professionals who work with a variety of manufacturers to test and validate vehicles.
