Position Summary: Awe Inspired is seeking a detail-obsessed, highly analytical Senior Merchant to lead merchandising strategy and assortment planning across our rapidly growing jewelry business. This is a pivotal individual contributor role responsible for identifying product opportunities, forecasting performance, and ensuring the right inventory is bought, priced, and timed to maximize revenue and margin. Reporting into our leadership team and working cross-functionally with Operations, Design, Product Development, Marketing, and Digital, you will help determine what we launch and how much we invest in it. You’ll own margin and buying targets, bring data to creative decisions, and ensure our product offering is both commercially sound and brand-aligned. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain seasonal and evergreen assortment strategies to meet revenue, margin, and growth targets Partner with Design and Product Development to shape line plans based on performance data, trends, and customer insights Manage to a defined merchandise budget, determining buy quantities and inventory depth across categories Own pricing strategy, including initial pricing, promotions, and discount planning to maintain margin health Maintain accurate, system-aligned line plans in Cin7 and Airtable (as a primary user, not systems owner) Monitor the competitive landscape and identify assortment gaps, over-assortment, and whitespace opportunities Planning, Forecasting & Performance Analysis Forecast demand and sell-through by SKU and category using historicals, trend data, and seasonal inputs Monitor weekly and monthly product performance to inform rebuys, markdowns, and lifecycle decisions Report on key KPIs including margin, turn, sell-through, and inventory health to guide business decisions Translate data into actionable insights and clear merchandising recommendations for leadership Identify risks and opportunities early to support agile planning and seasonal strategy adjustments Partner with Operations to align product flows, launch calendars, and promotional inventory planning Collaborate with Digital, Creative, and Marketing to align PDP readiness, site navigation, and launch merchandising Use site metrics and customer behavior to inform digital merchandising and conversion strategy Tailor product assortments, pricing, and depth by channel – including marketplace and wholesale needs Identify personalization and segmentation opportunities to increase relevance and engagement Own pricing strategy and experimentation across channels, including markdowns, psychological pricing, and tiering Qualifications: 4–7+ years of merchandising or planning experience at a high-SKU, digital-first brand; jewelry or accessories experience preferred. Mastery of Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups, macros, modeling). 4+ years of merchandising and planning experience in a high-SKU, DTC or vertical retail business; jewelry or accessories preferred. Proven success managing to a merchandise budget and owning product margin targets. Regular user of generative AI tools to automate workflows and synthesize insights. Experience with Shopify Plus, Cin7, Airtable, and PowerBI or similar BI tools is a plus. Highly analytical, solutions-oriented, and comfortable working with ambiguity. Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment and adapts quickly to change. Excellent communicator who can distill data into clear recommendations and business cases.
