We're Hiring: Assistant Director of Transportation North Colonie Central Schools is seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Transportation to help lead our transportation team, uphold student safety, and support the efficient management of daily operations. Brief Overview of Key Responsibilities: Assist in planning and managing district-wide transportation for public and private schools. Develop and implement bus safety programs. Coordinate and negotiate employee contracts. Establish and manage bus routes and schedules. Investigate and report all bus accidents. Organize transportation for special school events and trips. Prepare state-required reports (NYSED & DOT). Maintain transportation staff time records and 19A personnel files. Recruit, interview, train, and evaluate transportation staff. Oversee driver and aide training programs. Serve as liaison between schools, families, and transportation staff. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two-year college with an Associate degree and three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment, operation of multiple passenger vehicles, or dispatching of motor equipment; OR, B. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment, operation of a multiple passenger vehicle, or dispatching of motor equipment. Required Certifications: 19 A Certified Examiner SBDI (School Bus Driver Instructor) CDL Class B with passenger and school bus endorsements Benefits: 12-month administrative position Salary Range: $72,000 - $77,000 (based on education and experience) Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life insurance, NYS retirement, and a generous time-off package.
