The Role
The learning designer is responsible for teaching a packaged curriculum to high-achieving tenth-grade students. The co-taught curriculum engages students in the world of management consulting and behaviors required for success in the workforce. The selected candidate employs a range of effective and engaging pedagogical approaches, serving as a model practitioner. Additionally, the learning designer engages in collaborative discourse and planning with the senior director of programs and the lead learning designer.
Success will require deep expertise in teaching and learning, along with the ability to work collaboratively with business professionals. The learning designer’s approach to work should reflect the core values and habits of the Academy staff: tireless focus on excellence, determination despite obstacles, impeccable integrity, willingness to work hard, ability to learn from multiple sources, relentless focus on results, constant reflection and self-awareness, zest, social intelligence, and pertinacity.
Primary Responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics
Co-teach consulting pathway sessions twice monthly with industry professionals. Facilitate high-quality, engaging learning experiences aligned with AG’s consulting curriculum. Make real-time pedagogical decisions to support student understanding and engagement. Support student collaboration, critical thinking, and presentation skills. Collaborate with AG’s curriculum team and consulting professionals to understand lesson goals and core content. Offer feedback and recommendations to improve lesson plans, materials, and assessments. Adapt and adjust materials in response to student needs and session outcomes. Build strong relationships with students to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. Model and uphold high expectations for student participation and professionalism. Support classroom management and foster a culture of curiosity, respect, and reflection.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience teaching or facilitating learning experiences for high school students. Deep understanding of instructional design, youth engagement, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Comfort co-teaching and collaborating with non-educator professionals. A student-centered teaching style responsive to real-time feedback and student dynamics. Comfortable with learning and delivering career-related subject matter.
Location
This position will be based in Boston. The position is part-time.
Compensation
The pay rate ranges from $95 to $115 per hour.
