32 hours per week, Permanent Nights, Every Other Weekend
ABOUT THE Critical Care/3W Intermediate Care Unit DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:
BMC's Surgical Step Down unit is a 38-bed unit providing care for intermediate level surgical patients. The patient population consists of post-operative and surgical specialty patients, including trauma, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, transplant patients and cardiothoracic surgery.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the Critical Care department and their families. Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support. Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the Critical Care dept. Contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care dept, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes. JOB REQUIREMENTS :
A high school diploma or GED certificate Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment) Ability to pass clinical competency testing Physical ability to meet job responsibilities Basic math and computer proficiency One of the following:
One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting
Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training
Completed an approved certified medical assistant training
One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only) Fluency in another language a plus Previous medical/surgical experience preferred JOB BENEFITS:
