This position supports the Joint Fires Network (JFN), Distributed Experimentation Environment (DE2), and Vanguard Force DevOps Environment (VFDE) — initiatives designed to leverage Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) experimentation in developing advanced warfighter architectures and CONOPS, linking sensors and weapons platforms globally during critical conflicts. The candidate will provide technical support to improve Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) capabilities through development and continuous improvement of the JFN Prototype, DE2, and VFDE systems. Support includes systems engineering, cybersecurity, hardware/software integration, exploitation, and Battlespace Management and Command and Control (BMC2) capabilities across all warfare domains. The position is based in San Diego, CA at NIWC Pacific. Job Description:
As a Hardware Bare Metal Engineer supporting the VFDE Depot IPT, the candidate will work directly with customers to: Participate in deployment and implementation planning for the JFN Prototype. Perform installation and setup of hardware from bare metal to platform OS. Develop, sustain, and maintain compute hardware and networking solutions. Deploy JFN Prototype Systems as directed by the customer. Create customer documentation for custom applications. Contribute technical content and tutorials for documentation. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 14+ years of related experience; Master's with 12+ years; PhD or JD with 9+ years. Experience may substitute for degree. U.S. Citizen with active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain a poly. Experience installing hardware systems from bare metal to OS. Background in developing, maintaining hardware and networking solutions. Knowledge of DoD Systems Engineering practices (e.g., DODAF, Digital Twin). Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000 based on experience. Additional Details:
