Summary: The Pharmacy Technician I Inpatient will support the pharmacy staff in medication preparation and dispensing under the direction of a pharmacist. Responsibilities include: utilizing technology to pull medications for accurate dispensing and inventory control, communicating inventory concerns or special needs to the purchasing agent, accurately completing controlled substance documentation, repackaging medications compliant with local policy, assisting nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions, sterile compounding of intravenous medications, non-sterile compounding of oral medications, maintaining an organized and effective work environment, avoiding errors through high attention to detail to prevent undesirable clinical outcomes, using an array of business systems on a stationary computer workstation, delivering medications to patient care units in a timely manner, and taking direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns/questions. Other information: Qualifications required include a high school diploma or equivalent and basic arithmetic skills including multiplication, ratios, and percentages. Preferred qualifications include some customer service experience and training as a pharmacy technician from an educational institution or in a hospital environment.
