POLYSOMNOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGIST
JOB SUMMARY The Polysomnographic Technologist provides sleep care services to patients according to established protocols, including Polysomnograms (PSG), Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance Wakefulness Test (MWT), and Unattended Sleep Studies. Must acquire and maintain specialized technical skills and medical knowledge to ensure quality patient care. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Educational qualifications beyond high school must be from an accredited institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required:
None Preferred/Optional:
Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited polysomnographic technology program. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required:
One year experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Certified Respiratory Technician (CRT), Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (END), or Polysomnographic Technologist. Preferred/Optional:
Two years’ experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES Required: Certification by the BRPT as a registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. POLYSOMNOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN
JOB SUMMARY The Polysomnographic Technician provides sleep care services under supervision, performing PSG, MSLT, MWT, and Unattended Sleep Studies. They will work under supervision until registered independently, then may work autonomously. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Must be a graduate or enrolled in an accredited polysomnographic, electroneurodiagnostic, or respiratory care program, or qualify under BRPT pathways for RPSGT eligibility. Preferred/Optional:
Associate degree in relevant fields. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: None Preferred/Optional: Experience as a polysomnographic technician or related respiratory or neurodiagnostic fields. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES Required: BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Optional: Certification as an RPSGT by BRPT is highly encouraged. Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, three 12-hour night shifts, variable nights. Marshfield Clinic is committed to accessible, affordable, compassionate healthcare.
