Systems Integration Engineer
About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled
Systems Integration Engineer
to join Caterpillar's
Electrification & Advanced Power Solutions Division . This role will focus on the development of
ePowertrain solutions
for construction and mining equipment, supporting
emissions reduction goals . The engineer will work closely with experienced electric powertrain technical leads to understand customer, business, and regulatory requirements while developing electrification solutions.
Responsibilities: Develop
electrified powertrain
concepts for construction and mining equipment. Identify
design and development leverage opportunities
to enhance system performance. Optimize systems
through simulation and conduct trade-off analysis using key performance metrics (e.g., performance, TCO, R&D investment). Conduct
detailed system design
activities in collaboration with component design owners. Support
development builds and validation
activities. Troubleshoot
electric powertrain systems , resolving electrical and mechanical component/system challenges. Assist in
concept design, simulation coordination, component packaging, cable routing , and validation planning. Work with
3D models in CREO , including
electrical schematic creation . Develop
spreadsheet-based calculation tools
for engineering applications. Conduct light
simulation work using Matlab/Simulink, PSpice , etc. Participate in
lab work at the Tech Center
and support machine builds/conversions. Collaborate with various
product groups
within Caterpillar. Work Environment:
90% office work, 10% lab work. Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
in
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
(or related field). 8+ years
of experience in
electrical systems integration . Proficiency in
schematic design and CREO
for electrical system layouts. Knowledge of
high-voltage electrical systems
(60V+). Familiarity with
ISO 6-2-04 electrical standards . Experience with
stationary power generation systems . Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for
electric powertrain components . Experience with
electrification technologies
and
powertrain system optimization . Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with
vehicle electrification
and
powertrain integration . Familiarity with
cable routing, packaging, and mechanical integration . Experience with
simulation tools
like
Matlab/Simulink, PSpice . Strong understanding of
product development processes
in an engineering environment.
