POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides leadership of the Employee Health Clinic and the staff to improve the overall health and well-being of employees, as well as to provide oversight of employment health requirements. Additionally, this role manages Workers' Compensation, leaves of absence, safety analysis/reporting/training, and wellness programs. All employment health screenings, immunizations and staff annual physical exams are managed in this role in accordance with the hospital's policies/procedures and applicable accrediting/regulatory agency requirements. Provides management of the creation/maintenance of confidential employee health records. Services provided by the Employee Health Clinic include but are not limited to new hire/annual health screenings, respiratory fit testing, blood draws for lab testing, vaccinations, substance testing, exposure and bloodborne pathogen counseling, and health & safety promotion/education. Serves as a consultant for the Infection Control department and Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) requests when needed. This position has responsibility of Workers' Compensation claims, safety analysis/reporting, employee leaves of absence (i.e. FMLA, military leave) and return to work programs are effectively managed and communicated with all stakeholders, including applicable third party/external parties. This role requires creation of policies/procedures and development/delivery of training modules and education/communication materials. Requires organizational skills, self-motivation, and minimal supervision. Requires accurate assessment skills and the ability to take appropriate actions when warranted. Accepts responsibility for own and others job performance including documenting appropriate counseling and discipline with staff as warranted.
EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Current licensure as Registered Nurse (RN) with the Georgia Board of Nursing Bachelors degree in nursing preferred Certification as an HIV counselor preferred Must obtain/maintain current membership in American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) and Georgia Association Health Nurses (GAOHN) within 90 days of hire EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years nursing experience in a hospital clinical setting Minimum of 5 years of experience with employee health services and wellness programs Minimum of 2 years in supervisory or management level position KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
General knowledge of healthcare systems and organizational relationships General knowledge of Workers' Compensation General knowledge of Federal/state laws impacting employee health, safety and leaves of absence standards Thorough knowledge of current accreditation standards and regulatory agency requirements Thorough Knowledge of employee health/wellness and preemployment health testing requirements/procedures Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Ability to create and maintain strong teamwork environment, encouraging staff flexibility to meet the needs of the hospital to accomplish key priorities without compromising standards Ability to multitask amidst competing priorities WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION Well lighted, air-conditioned indoor office work area. Low noise level. Frequent exposure to sharp objects (such as needles) as well as blood and body fluids. Ability to sit, stand or walk for extensive periods. Ability to use computer/keyboard daily for 8 hours or more per day. Essential physical requirements include moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching, stooping, pulling, bending, and twisting on regular basis. Subject to long, irregular hours, including weekends or be on-call duties as needed. Moderate to high level of stress. Ability to listen and respond quickly in potentially adverse situations. Ability to have difficult discussions appropriately with staff to address performance concerns. Occasional travel as needed to offsite hospital affiliate facilities for company activities. May be appointed to hold hospital emergency staff designation.
