Principal Systems Administrator - DoD Contract
MILVETS Systems Technology, Inc. is currently seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven Principal Systems Administrator with an active Secret Clearance (or higher) to work on-site at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM. The Principal Systems Administrator will lead and manage secure IT infrastructure operations supporting national defense initiatives. This role demands deep expertise in Linux systems administration, VMware virtualization, and compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and other Linux-based systems in classified environments.
- Manage VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA), and virtual machine provisioning.
- Ensure system integrity through patch management, vulnerability scanning, and endpoint protection (e.g., Trellix/McAfee).
- Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with RMF and DoD STIGs.
- Collaborate with ISSOs and cybersecurity teams to ensure audit readiness and compliance.
- Provide backup and recovery services, manage file systems, and monitor system performance.
- Support Active Directory, LDAP, and other core infrastructure services.
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and security compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship (required by contract)
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- CompTIA Security+ certification (DoD 8570 IAT Level II)
- 7+ years of experience in systems administration, including Linux and VMware
- Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity requirements and RMF processes
- Experience with Splunk, NetApp storage, and WSUS patching

- Ability to work independently in high-security environments
