Principal Technical Consultant, Platform Engineering

Serving as a technical thought leader and SME for our ecosystem of partners, customers, and service providers in the realm of Modern Apps & Platform Engineering, and leading other teammates. The Principal Technical Consultant works as part of the consulting team to lead development, design, implementation, and engagement of client solutions. They manage, mentor, and delegate to engineers on projects, oversee career development plans for the team, and support internal initiatives and broader organizational goals.

This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership abilities, and deep technical proficiency across various domains.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure projects are delivered on time, at the highest quality standards, exceeding client expectations.
2. Design and implement complex, mission-critical, enterprise-grade technical solutions for clients.
3. Build and maintain strong client relationships, drive business growth, and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
4. Develop high-quality deliverables and presentations for client engineering teams and senior leaders, including technical and non-technical documentation.
5. Collaborate with clients to understand their technical challenges and develop tailored solutions.
6. Create and present solution designs, options, ideas, and innovations to clients' senior leadership teams.
7. Develop and maintain technical roadmaps and innovation plans.
8. Develop and implement CI/CD solutions.
9. Establish project estimates and plans, identify risks and mitigations, oversee development and delivery of technical solutions.
10. Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members.
11. Lead collaboration within our technical communities.

Qualifications

• Ability to quickly develop solutions on a whiteboard in front of clients to address business and technical challenges.
• Strong consulting and business acumen.
• 10+ years of IT experience and 5+ years in Cloud, DevOps, Automation, Application Modernization, or Digital Transformation.
• Multiple certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS DevOps Engineer Pro, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Terraform Associate, etc.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing platform core services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Databases, Containers, Security, Identity).
• Experience with organizational adoption of transformational initiatives like Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Transformation, Application Modernization.
• Hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, ARM, CloudFormation.
• Experience with deployment services like Harness, GitHub, Jenkins, and knowledge of branching strategies.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or others.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of modern cloud-native application design, DevSecOps, IaC, CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of enterprise organizations across industries and IT functions.

The compensation range reflects the OTE, including base salary and bonus, and varies based on experience, qualifications, and location.
