Job Summary
The Sr. Plant Engineer strategically plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, and physical plant grounds of a HP Hood LLC dairy manufacturing facility.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Manages direction regarding developing and improving the real time handling concept and interface and its integration in the enterprise data system of the company to improve financial, operations, system performance, and maintainability conditions. Develops, implements, and continuously improves process control solutions including advanced control concepts. Apply statistical process control methods to improve performance and reduce costs of goods of the company’s manufacturing activities. Leads facility in project management and capital planning process along with the development of capital expenditure requests. Manages and provides oversight to plant regulatory and environmental requirements related to utility usage and wastewater treatment. Provides sound engineering practices to improve plant operations, support product quality initiatives, to reduce operating costs and to support production and maintenance groups in finding and resolving root cause issues. Including facilitating continuous improvement conversations related to engineered solutions. Leads projects including HVAC, heat transfer, processing, electrical, mechanical, and packaging equipment that encompass equipment layout and plant design. Develops and implements process controls solutions including advanced control concepts. Applies statistical process controls methods to significantly improve performance and reduce costs of goods of the company’s manufacturing activities. Manages the standardization of process control hardware, software and control strategies. Leads and coordinates the process controls function in design, construction, and startup of new or improved equipment and systems. Facilitates and provides leadership and direction to process controls discipline in multidisciplinary teams, defining the scope of work, and working with internal and external manpower. Develops and updates process controls documentation for new and existing equipment and systems. Develops and introduces new process controls technology and solutions to improve plant and line performance.
Education And Experience
BS, ME, EE or PE and 5-10 years’ experience in a high volume manufacturing plant, preferably food or beverage. Engineering responsibility in a 7X24 operation, including experience with preventive Maintenance. Capital budgeting and planning experience. Must have managed other engineering functions such as project, process, and packaging in a team environment. Strong familiarity with systems and infrastructure upgrades and maintenance. PSM for Ammonia Refrigeration Systems
Skills And Competencies
Strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communications skills, blue print reading skills, organizational skills, strong problem solving / critical thinking skills are required. Must have ability to work independently and be very efficient. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD. Ability to supervise contractors and employees who design and develop projects, systems and processes. Responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy of their work and the reliability of their methods. Knowledge about building and construction materials, physics, design and mathematics, as well as practical applications of engineering science and technology. Knowledge of public safety and security policies and procedures that are to be applied to promote safe operations for the protection of people, data and property Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining work area in a sanitary manner. Proficient in MS Office suite including project management. SAP knowledge and use is desired.
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.
The pay range for this position is
$123,300 - $145,800 USD
