The Zahn Memorial Family Emergency Shelter Desk Clerk provides general oversight of residents and rooms, checking in and discharges of residents, and evaluates and reports on the resident's condition to the Program Director and Case Managers. The Desk Clerk is also responsible for assisting case managers in the completion of documentation and tracking resident's progress upon discharge and follow-ups. Essential functions include providing professional, compassionate and safe care for all residents, general monitoring of clients to ensure a safe, quiet, and friendly atmosphere is maintained, and explaining rules and procedures to all clients. The Desk Clerk must also ensure client adherence to program policies and procedures, complete intakes as needed, enter and update all HMIS data, follow all Alegria and TSA policies and procedures, complete all intake forms and records, and maintain resident confidentiality at all times. Working conditions require the ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, operate computer, fax, and telephone, and lift up to 25 lbs. This position requires the employee to be vaccinated from Covid-19. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, minimum of one-year experience working with low-income and/or homeless individuals and families, a valid Class C California Driver's License, and must pass a criminal background check. Skills, knowledge, and abilities include being culturally sensitive and non-judgmental, knowledge and sensitivity regarding issues of homelessness, mental health, and chronic illness, and basic information of blood borne infection and universal precautions including the use of protective devices. Required skills include CPR/AED certification. Required education is a high school diploma or equivalent. Required experience includes minimum of one-year experience working with low-income and/or homeless individuals and families. Preferred skills include bilingual English/Spanish. Required licenses include a driver's license.
