The Trauma Research Director promotes quality care through the coordination and development of research and education. The Research Director promotes advancement of research and innovation in trauma and acute care and is an expert in clinical research. The Trauma Program Director (TPD), under the direction of the Vice President of Business Development, is responsible for managing the trauma program with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD). The TPD, in collaboration with the TMD, is responsible for assuring all Trauma Center verification standards are met as required by the Texas Department of Health and the Office of Emergency Services. The TPD is responsible for complete operational function, program assessment, planning, organizing, implementation, performance improvement, education, and marketing communications. This position will function as a role model in the use of the nursing process and develops, introduces, and evaluates new approaches to trauma nursing practice. In addition to complete operational responsibilities, the TPD is responsible for compliance and maintain the standards of care of the trauma patient as set by state, federal, regulatory and accrediting agencies. The TPD position requires high-level communication skills in both oral and written form, frequent interaction with physicians and senior administration is necessary and required. The position requires excellent interpersonal communication skills with emphasis on problem solving and negotiation. What You Will Do In This Role:
Develop processes for monitoring and improving the financial performance and resource utilization of the Trauma Center. Perform strategic planning and coordinate optimal care of trauma patients across the care continuum. Coordinate efforts between local and regional trauma systems. Monitor clinical processes, outcomes, and system issues related to the quality of care provided. Develop quality filters, audits, and case reviews to identify trends and events. Design the trauma registry to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports, and research while protecting confidentiality. Manage the processes for verification and re-verification for the Trauma Center. What Qualifications You Will Need:
Advanced Cardiac Life Spt Basic Cardiac Life Support Trauma Nursing Core Course TNCC Instructor (RN) Registered Nurse license Bachelors Degree in Nursing required Masters Degree in Nursing required Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in a trauma center preferred Minimum of 5 years nursing experience in an ED, ICU or Critical Care area HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest is a 415+ bed acute care hospital that has been serving the north Houston communities for more than 40 years, providing a wide range of medical services including cardiology, maternity care, Level III NICU, pediatrics, bariatrics and neurology.
