Milliman's Indianapolis Health Practice is looking for a Healthcare Policy Consulting Intern, who is a current law student and has an interest in state Medicaid public policy and regulatory analysis to serve as a paid, part-time intern. This position provides excellent opportunities for professional development and growth in state and national health policy issues. There is potential for additional terms, in addition to, the opportunity to convert to full-time employment upon graduation. In this role, you will: Conduct, summarize and document research to support engagements for healthcare clients in areas such as: Policy design, development, and implementation for Medicaid and other social service programs Literature reviews on pertinent healthcare topics Medicaid managed care program design, implementation, and evaluation Medicaid demonstration waiver program design, implementation, and evaluation Federal financing options and related compliance for Medicaid programs Keep abreast of trends and regulatory changes affecting health clients Assist with report writing and development of presentation materials Communicate results to internal stakeholders Ensure quality control processes and procedures are followed Qualifications: Strong organization and time management skills with attention to detail to manage multiple projects at the same time Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to strategically and creatively process information and communicate with all levels within the organization Ability to work within a team environment and independently manage own work Superior problem-solving capabilities and superior learning agility Attention to detail Ability to apply skills learned on one project to subsequent analyses Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Required: Bachelor's Degree Current IU McKinney School of Law Externship program participant Preferred: Background in healthcare or government programs The Indianapolis Health Practice is strategically structured to serve state Medicaid agencies and other health and human services agencies. The policy team provides strategy and program design support for our state agency clients, in close collaboration with professionals from other teams to best serve each of our clients' unique needs. You will work in a matrix environment, learning from seasoned consultants and gaining exposure to projects across a range of states and agency types. As a member of this team, you will observe how we provide comprehensive consulting services which span from many different disciplines and backgrounds including actuarial, policy, finance, pharmacy, and data management, all working together for a common goal to best serve our clients' needs. The person hired for this role will work in a dynamic, hybrid environment, with 2 to 3 days per week of on-site work required in our Indianapolis office on a weekly basis.
