Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join their team in Jacksonville. As an Estimator, you’ll play a critical role in the pre-construction process, identifying bidding opportunities, analyzing civil plans and geotechnical data, developing comprehensive cost estimates, and supporting project teams to set the stage for execution success. This is a high-impact role for someone who values accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed, accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects
- Review bid documents, attend pre-bid meetings, and perform job site visits
- Analyze project scopes, geotechnical reports, and production rates
- Manage pre-construction schedules and prepare final bid submissions
- Collaborate with PMs, vendors, and internal stakeholders to refine estimates
- Mentor junior staff and update cost databases and estimating software
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in civil construction (sitework, utilities, roadway)
- Proficient in estimating software (HCSS, Bid2Win, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.)
- Skilled in analyzing civil plans, specs, and geotechnical data
- Strong math and technical skills; Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Knowledge of FDOT or regional bidding practices preferred
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
