Job Summary: The Licensed Clinical Social Worker provides comprehensive mental health and chemical dependency evaluations for individuals in emotional distress, makes appropriate treatment recommendations, and coordinates patient admissions to the Division of Mental and Behavioral Health in an effort to ensure that high quality health care services are provided by the COPE Team. Relies on education, experience and judgment to accomplish job. Creativity and some latitude is expected to complete responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements: 2 years of social work experience; Master's Degree; Crisis Intervention Training within 90 days of employment; Proficient in the English language, verbal and written communications skills, basic computer skills; Current LCSW license from the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners and BLS Certification

Responsibilities
- Patient Care
- Provides compassionate and professional mental health and chemical dependency evaluations in the hospital and community (e.g., police department, schools) and makes appropriate treatment recommendations. Responds to patient needs in a timely and considerate manner while maintaining awareness of the needs of others.
- Provides phone assessments and crisis intervention in a manner sensitive to the individual's immediate concerns and assesses caller need for professional mental health consultation services in an effort to address the immediate and long term health care needs of the individual.
- Coordinates patient admissions in a responsible and cooperative manner by explaining admission procedures, financial responsibility matters, and patient rights to patient and family, obtaining treatment consent, and ensuring that admission forms routed to relevant departments are accurate and complete.
- Quality
- Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance through participation in staff educational programs, approved continuing education courses, and specialized skill training programs.
- Collaboration and Partnership
- Liaises between the Division of Mental and Behavioral Health, physicians, community agencies, and the hospital in an effort to facilitate efficient problem solving and determine appropriate patient care services.
- Manages assigned case load, provides assistance in covering weekend, evening, and holiday functions, and maintains flexibility in adapting to schedule changes.
- Develops positive relationships between the hospital and community agencies, special interest and civic groups, and professional affiliations by acting as a hospital representative. Works through civic groups and public education activities to improve community health and foster the hospital's image as a leader in the health care industry.

Qualifications
- 2 years of social work experience
